Happy Homeowner?

Happy Weekend Wanderers! This is my last full weekend off before I return to my part-time job. I was hoping it was going to be peaceful, but after a call from my dad on Wednesday I will be spending it as a stressed out homeowner!
A little background information first. I purchased my home almost 10 years ago as a foreclosure. It is what you would call a fixer-upper. The prior owner fancied himself a flipper but had no money or knowledge of home repairs. Slowly I have been making improvements, yay for the new upstairs bathroom, but as old homes do, everything is breaking.
Recently the mid-Atlantic has been gripped in record setting freezing temperatures, and because I haven't had any heat my pipes froze. Because of this my dad and little brother went down to check on everything. Unfortunately, so far, the result is a broken radiator in my bedroom and the living room. Next week the weather is supposed to heat up, and hopefully my house will too so we can see the total damage.
Even though I have a lot of repairs to make and it's stressful, buying my own home has been the best decision I've ever made. A lot of my friends rent, my mortgage payment is half their rent and my house is twice the size of their apartments. I've had to do a lot of growing up financially, and mentally since purchasing my home, but it's well worth it!
I have decided when I move to Florida I WILL be buying new construction! Let me know on Twitter (www.twitter.com/theannabellel) some of your homeowner surprises. I want to hear about the good, bad, & the ugly!

P.S. Don't be afraid to wander!
